Rugby, created in a school in England in 1823, is played with an oval ball. The players run with it, pass it with their hands or kick it, looking to support it behind the opponent's goal line. This way of scoring is called try. The rugby teams have 15 players. A reduced version of the game (seven a side), requires seven players per side.

The rugby court must not exceed 100 meters long between the two goal lines. To score a try and win five points, the player must support the ball with his hands inside the ingoal zone. Kicking the ball between the clubs and over the crossbar gives two more points.

TRY
The seven a side is played on a large court. This gives much more space to the players, who have to be in excellent physical condition. In a seven you get more tries than in the other versions of the game.

EL TACKLE
Rivals can tackle the player who has the ball by taking it below the shoulders. The tackled player must release the ball, so both teams must have players ready to pick it up.

Up to 12 years old children play rugby for children. It is not allowed to kick the ball, so that children learn to handle it well with their hands.

As a curious fact, it was not until 1987 that the first Rugby World Cup was played. That year New Zealand won it. Then they won it Australia in 1991, South Africa in 1995, Australia again in 1999 and England in 2003.
Como dato curioso, recién en 1987 se jugó la primera Copa del Mundo de Rugby. Ese año la ganó Nueva Zelanda. Después la ganaron Australia en 1991, Sudáfrica en 1995, Australia otra vez en 1999 e Inglaterra en el 2003.
